A bread and focaccia lesson inspired by tradition and taste
Learn how to make the symbols of Italian breadmaking in the heart of Altamura
Treat yourself to the privilege of discovering the secrets of bread and focaccia in the place where the recipe for perfection is handed down from generation to generation: in Altamura, Puglia, surrounded by the Alta Murgia National Park amidst large gorges and acres of wheat. Together with the master bakers, you will mix 100% local durum wheat remilled semolina with water and sourdough and follow the traditional, ancient processes by preparing the unique shapes that distinguish this delicacy, such as the tall bread crust and the low priest's hat shape. Take in a breath of beauty as you stroll through the village and admire the Cathedral built by Frederick II where Romanesque style blends with Gothic. Then go back to cooking in the ancient ovens fuelled by oak wood. An experience of aromas and authenticity to be enjoyed at the time and repeated when you return home, to preserve the genuine flavour of the first baked product in Europe to be awarded the PDO designation.
